Possibles is a concept for a new flag installation. It is inspired by the design schemes of official flags, such as national flags, standards, banners and signals. The Possibles are fictional flags for countries that do not exist. There will be 199 designs, which will be hand sewn from woven polyester using traditional methods. The flags will be displayed in a hemispherical formation that represents the globe. There will be two versions of Possibles. One will be on the same scale as standard national flags and will be displayed outdoors. The other is intended for a gallery setting or architectural interior with the flags suspended in an array curving downwards from high overhead.
